Fatefully Yours -- Behind the Madness

Oh, where do I begin? So, many people have asked me where I came up with the idea for the Fatefully Yours series.

I've talked about my dislike of M/F/M menage a little before. I'm not saying it's bad writing, but it's just not my style. I need everyone in the relationship to have a connection if it's going to work for me. I read a few of the LoveXtreme titles at Siren -- all with one woman and at least five men.

The writing was well done, the characters engaging, and the storyline intriguing. However, it's just one woman with all these men, and in most of the stories the men are somehow related. All I could think was "that poor girl" and "ouch".

Of course, it's no secret that I prefer M/M. So, why weren't there more of these books out there? I'd been toying with the idea of doing a series on demons for a while, and the more I thought about it, the more I liked it. I knew it wouldn't be for everyone, but I wanted to do something new and just a little bit different. I also wanted to show that eight men could have a relationship based on more than sex.

I can't count the number of times that someone has told me they were skeptical at first because how on earth could a relationship work between eight men? Once they decided to give it a try, they were all pleasantly surprised. Good! Exactly what I was going for. Oh, I'm sure there are some that will have numerous horrible things to say about it, but everyone is entitled to their opinion. Like I said, it's not for everyone. Hell, my writing isn't for everyone. I'm a big girl and can handle that.

Then I read a review for Dark Devotion today. I'm not even sure what to say about it. However, I will put one speculation to rest. For those of you who've read the Fatefully Yours series, I hope that it came across clearly that not only is the story a Fantasy Fiction, but based largely in Greek mythology. At no time...EVER... was Tartarus or Olympus meant to represent Hell and Heaven.

Religion is a sticky topic, and I try to stay away from it as much as possible. So, the idea that the world of Fatefully Yours is based upon Christian concepts of Heaven and Hell, God and Satan, is laughable. The storyline is immersed in mythology, gods and goddess, fantastical creatures and beings, and in no way is meant to imitate religious beliefs. There's no hidden message or underlying philosophical meaning.

It's fiction... pure and simple.

  1. You just perfectly described my problem with a lot of menages, more people love just one person. I really like to read menages, but I feel that everyone has to love eachother.
I'm really looking forward to reading this series, but because I have exams next week I don't think now is the right time to buy the books :P But end next week I will definitely try them!

  2. Good luck on your exams! I hope you enjoy Fatefully Yours when you get a chance to read them. Once you get past the idea that there are 8 men in the relationship, it reads pretty much like any of my other sories. The writing style hasn't changed...just the concept and execution. :)

Hi Gabrielle! I myself have a lot of problems with menages that involve a female - like you said, more often than not the female is what keeps the relationship together, and it's not a true relationship in the sense that everyone loves each other.

That's what I love about menages that involve people of the same gender (without blood ties to each other). There's never a doubt that they would all eventually love each other.

I was glad to discover your Fatefully Yours series, despite my initial hesitation due to the demons and the good versus evil plot. I myself first thought that it would somehow invoke a sense of religion and spirituality. But I've come to realize that it isn't the case at all; this post further strengthens my belief in that.

Anyway, just here to drop by and tell you how much I love reading about your men. I so can't wait for the last four books! :D

  4. Thank you. I'm glad you're enjoying the series. I promise there is no hidden spiritual meaning in the series. It's just supposed to be a fun story with a little drama and lots of hot, steamy sex. :)

  5. Okay, so I started reading the series like a week ago and have been attached to my Kindle ever since, now I'm anxiously awaiting Behind Closed Doors. I love these books and I adore all the men! The only question is, is what eye color Hex ends up having?

  7. Thanks! I'm glad you're enjoying it.

Hex's eye color is Burgundy. You can find it in Hypnotic Healing -- page 61 after the scene break. :)
