Dessert Aphrodisiacs by Author Carla Angela

Dessert Aphrodisiacs

By Carla Angela

In my eBook, Full Exposure (Siren-BookStrand), my heroine, Lake, runs a photography shop and cafĂ© with her best friend, Fenella – and Fenella is always trying to ply Lake (and their customers) with her freshly baked sweet treats. It gave me an idea for a blog post on dessert aphrodisiacs. So, here’s a few suggestions to tempt your taste buds (and then some) – after you’ve chowed down on a heart-shaped pizza!

BANANA SPLIT. There’s the marvellous phallic shape of the fruit, of course. But, add chocolate sauce, whipped cream and nuts, with a cherry on top – and you’ve got yourself a scorcher of a dessert. (Bananas are also rich in potassium and B vitamins, necessary for sex hormone production – lovely!)

DARK CHOCCY & RED WINE. Feeding each other chocolate in between sips of your own glasses of velvety wine is highly erotic in itself. But both ingredients are also high in antioxidants, making them the perfect pairing for a sensuous night. Enjoy the sweet taste of the candy, while caressing the wine glass stems and gazing into each other’s eyes – just watch out you don’t spontaneously combust from all the anticipatory heat.

CANDIED FIGS. An open fig is said to emulate the female sex organs. A man savouring one is like eating out – er, downstairs. This is one food where using your fingers isn’t bad-mannered.

CHOCOLATE-COATED GINGER. Ginger is a stimulant of the circulatory system. Tuck into the chocolate-coated variety and you’ll be guaranteed to add some spice to your love-making – in the bedroom or outside of it, the choice is yours!

HONEY ON TOAST. Okay, so honey on toast doesn’t sound very romantic, but bear with me. In medieval times, seducers plied their partners with mead, a fermented drink made from honey – particularly after they’d just tied the knot (hence, the name, honeymoon, for such a holiday.) Could be a fab way to sweeten up your liaison!

LIQUORICE. The Chinese have used liquorice for medicinal purposes for eons. The plant’s essence is a whopping 50 times sweeter than sugar. Sweetness aside, gnawing on the treat is said to enhance feelings of love and lust – particularly for women. Go crazy with the flavours, from strawberry to mango. Yum!

RASPBERRIES & STRAWBERRIES. These berries are the fruit equivalent of, well, milk ducts. It’s unavoidable that they’ll leave some a little hot and bothered then – especially when feeding them to one another. Oh, and they’re also high in vitamin C and low in calories. The perfect dessert!

VANILLA PANNA COTTA. Vanilla’s scent and flavour is believed to increase lust. Add such beans to a sweet panna cotta dessert and your lover will be sliding all over the place with desire. Nice.

COFFEE NIGHTCAP. Get set for an all-nighter. ‘Nuff said!

  1. Hmmm....there IS a chocolate wine out there, made with red wine and dark chocolate. ;) It's VERY good. They even have a raspberry one! You can combine a few with that one.
