Random Contest Time!

Yes, it's completely random and for no other reason than, huzzah, that's why!

So, you're probably thinking to yourself, "What can I win?" Well, I'm not telling. *sticks tongue out* It's a mystery, a surprise, an enigma even! I promise this, though: It will come in a large box and be ridiculously awesome!

And because I'm super excited about my new project with +Jana Downs I'm even going to share with you the opening legend from our new series, The Forgotten, coming this Spring!!

The Legend

The laws of the paranormal world are few and simple, but they are absolute. The most sacred of these directives is also the simplest—no human shall come to perish by the actions of a Nightkin.

For centuries, the Nightkins lived in secrecy and peace amongst the humans, but not all were content with their blessed life. In their arrogant, misguided hatred of the mortals, four tribes of shifter Nightkins—pumas, bears, wolves, and eagles—banded together and fought against the humans, killing and burning everything in their path.

Saddened by the savageness of their children, the great Ancestors sought to not only punish them, but to teach them compassion, tolerance, and love. Cursing the four tribes, the Ancestors decreed that no longer would the shifters have control over their beasts, but that their beasts would control them. Each member of the tribes would live as their animal counterpart, sentient, but unable to change between forms.

Every twenty-five years, on the night of the summer solstice, the shifters would be granted their human skins. During their reprieve they would seek out their mates, because only the gift of love—both given and received—could break their curse. If a Nightkin could not find his mate by midnight on the winter solstice, however, he would become a beast one more, alone and forgotten.

The curse is theirs forever, and as immortals, forever is a very long time.

So comment below and tell me what your favorite type of M/M books are all about. Do you like friends to lovers? Gay for you? Contemporary? Maybe you like spies or men in uniform? Do you love paranormal romance? Are vampires your thing or do shifters get you going?

Whatever you love, tell me all about it for a chance to win! Don't forget to leave a valid email address!

** Contest Ends Friday, February 28th at Midnight EST **

  1. I like spaghetti ;) lol

My favorite is probably paranormal and mixed matings human and shifter. I like big strong tough shifters or humans brought to their knees by short unassuming humans or shifters.

  2. I love all things paranormal but outside of this I do love reading about enemies to lovers or bullies to lovers as there is always something behind why they did what they did - not that I am condoning bullying is just the way it is written and the background you get

  4. I love cute detective romances. Not between two detectives, but where a detective is assigned to protect someone who witnessed something - especially with some kind of witness protection. I also love paranormal between a small, defenseless shifter (like a small mammal) and a big strong human with serious protective instinct. I'm still waiting for a story with both, because I think it would be awesome.

  11. I like mixed shifter romances where you have two shifters but with different kinds of animal. I like it when its two alphas fighting to be top but also like it when one is the "strong" one and one is the "weak" one but the strong one needs guidance from the weak one to save their relationship or to get through some other hardship. I also like M/M stories that are part of a series so you get a chance to revisit characters and see how they're doing even after their HEA.

  13. Do I have to pick one favorite? :)

I really love shifter/human and the overprotective alpha where the human mate puts him in his place. I really love all M/M paranormal as long as there's a "happily ever after" ending.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I'm pretty much in on it all, though I haven't really been all that into 'gay for you'. Never really caught my interest, when I tried reading some of it. :)
I'm definitely into contemporary, happily mixed with a wee bit of law enforcement, or college kids or something else. I'm very much into the big top and cute twink thing, haha. :3
Paranormal, naturally. My first MM book was actually paranormal, so it has always had a special place in my heart. I've become very fond of shifters, but a few vampire books have gotten my interest (twilight has not dimmed my love for these species ;o)).
Again, there are very few things MM I won't read, I think. I have tried a lot in the years I have read it and some I won't return to and some I'll go back to again and again, haha.

I'm very much into Rain Oxford's idea with the small (also shifter wise) shifter and strong, dominant human! I like my wolves and cats, but smaller mammals such as otters, housecats ect. ect. would be adorable to read about.

  15. This is fun...and intriguing! I'm almost an all opportunity m/m lover. My one must have is a happy ending. Other than that, I love contemporary, gay for you, FBI or detective themed. Oh, military men! Yum! Also books with characters who are either musicians or in a band. I adore stories with imperfect characters and some of my many re-reads have characters with disabilities or have been abused. Humor's always nice, angst when I'm in the mood. I'm very new to shifter books but the ones I've read have been awesome. Thank you for this! peachescon(at)gmail(dot)com

My favorite types of M/M are unrequited love of a best friend to a slow kindling of deep romance and passion, paranormal (hunter/demon romance, vampire, shifter, etc), as well as the younger college romances and a spattering of the contemporary.

I've read many short stories of slow kindling romance and the finding and understanding of both party's boundaries and the pure innocent sensuality is a refreshing look at romance and how loving and pure two individuals can be to each other. and though sweeter romance is a delight I do quite enjoy the rougher more BDSM and kinky romances. To me a BDSM relationship is one of immense trust on both sides and the devotion of both participants is clearly shown through their fluid and rigid trust. Paranormal M/M is a great enjoyment of mine because of the aspect of "forbidden love" between two different worlds, human and supernatural. Concerning shifters I adore larger cats like snow leopards, tigers, jaguars, and even panthers. Lately I have come to love Mer/Human lovers. Another thing I can't deny adoring though is when the dom of the relationship is taller/bigger than his bottom.

The main thing I love in all of the different genres I enjoy so much is trust. Trust is something I care greatly about because trust is key in any relationship. :)

  17. My mood determines what I read. I enjoy reading about different types of shifters, vampires, alpha males, etc. I like a story that can make me laugh, cry, laugh again and cheer for the characters to find happiness.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I can't pick one type of book over another. I mean to have a navy seal who is a wolf shifter who always thought he would have a female mate then has a male mate who happens to have been his childhood best friend is an ultimate dream!

  22. My favorite type of M/M is anything to do with the paranormal. Though I mostly lean towards the wolf shifters/human. I like reading, and exploring with both of the roles, what it's like to just be tossed into the paranormal world. Learning what it's like to be a wolf shifter, and more importantly what it's like to be the mate of the shifter. The tension, the love and the power that surround them is always so emotional.

The other type of M/M I enjoy reading, which comes as a close second is anything having to do with Bands. Whether it be of a relationship within the band itself, or having one of the band mates finding love within a fan. I just can't seem to pull myself away from a story involving this.

As for your new story? CANT WAIT TO READ IT! The blurb look's awesome!

  43. You can gift me in chocolate ;)

My favorites span a multitude of subgenres and tropes. I think it depends on my mood. I love a good friends to lovers story. There's something about two men who know each other inside and out then fall in love. Even better if they don't even realize they've fallen in love and it just happens.

I also have a soft spot for cowboys. I'm a southern girl, so men in tight pants, boots, and cowboy hats have been part of my life for years. And two of them...together...well, sometimes I'm rendered speechless...not all the time, mind you, but sometimes.

And sometimes I take flack for this, but I also have a soft spot for GFY stories. A straight man who can't explain his attraction to his new friend/trainer/co-worker. I love the dynamics there...they way they work through their feelings, sometimes in self-destructive, inexplicable ways, before they give in and live happily ever after.

And angsty stories...Is it weird to say that I like a story that can bring me to tears or that has the ability to rip my heart out and stomp on it? See, those are the stories that have such a huge reward at the end. The journey is tough, but the ending is amazing.

And last, but certainly not least, I love, love, love stories of the paranormal and fantasy variety. I love to lose myself in the worlds. To experience the creativity and adventure of the characters and their stories. And I love the ability to dream with each story.

So yes, I love to read...and I have many favorites :)

  46. I love when they have to work to understand each other, and it makes a more solid romance..and when even fated mates don't have instant "I'm in love with you" but have to build on their bond...

  47. I like he paranormal when its an Alpha and Sub (when the are feisty) lol. Give the Alpha a run for his money. But all genre of M/M are good, just have to weed through the lot and decide which one you want to buy FIRST. :-D

  48. I love just about everything.. How about men in uniform but are supernatural creates as well, like a Vampire Marine ;) or a Army Werewolf? so hot. I like M/M more then M/F for some reason. Don't know why just do. I have lots of random tastes when it comes to books and genres. I am not a big fan of old western but I love cowboys? lol It's like me liking ketchup but I can't stand the texture of tomatoes.... lol I love the flavor of onion but can't stand biting into one.. Ooh maybe I'm a vampire? lol.. Anyway yea, I'm picky about books but in another sense I love just about anything... hmm, I'm complicated lol

  50. It depends, some days I like the humans who simply fall in love, but other days I'm just needing a good paranormal M/M. But what I love the most is the impossible love, the one that shouldn't happen, the that some times is taboo, or forbidden. What I love the most is to see an impossible love break down every barrier and stand strong.

  51. i love all types of m/m but my number one weakness is paranormal vampires and shifters of all kinds also i love when characters are not perfect or think they are not worthy of love and discover differently because in real life it's like that everyone deserves their happily ever after and search all their life for the perfect soul mate ;) jessica canoto jcanoto@ymail.com

  52. I am open to reading all kinds of M/M books. If the story appeals to me, then I don't care what genre it falls into. Most of the time I gravitate more towards all types of contemporary stories in every type of subgenre. I really love stories were one of the characters is a little weaker or has some obstacle to overcome. I think it makes for a great dynamic when one characters feels protective of another.

    Thanks for doing this contest!
